Our Governance

On behalf of the FE Corporation, I would like to welcome you to the website of Education Training Collective (Etc.).

Following significant achievements in recent times, including Ofsted judgements of ‘good’ in both 2014 and 2017, merger with NETA Training Group and, most recently, the successful merger of Stockton Riverside College and Redcar and Cleveland College in August 2018, we have taken the decision to introduce a new overarching name for the college group.

All of our sites now share one group identity and brand, while maintaining the individual college names – something we feel very strongly about.

Education Training Collective:

Education Training Collective (Etc.) is the new umbrella name for the group, which incorporates Stockton Riverside College, Redcar and Cleveland College, NETA Training, Bede Sixth Form College, The Skills Academy, Tees Valley Logistics Academy and Tees Valley Catering.

Etc. is an abbreviation of et cetera, a Latin expression, meaning “and similar” or, “and so on.” Et cetera is future facing, indicative of progress and what’s coming next.

The new name was selected, after a long and involved process and consultation, because it resonates with our intentions as a Group.

For employers and businesses – we are fully committed to meeting the needs of our local communities, in particular local businesses. We strive to support economic growth through excellence in education and training, and the ability to develop strong and cohesive relationships.

For learners – this simply means all of the colleges and training providers in the group retain their existing names; it is only the overarching organisation name that changed. We continue to offer local colleges for local people, and this will not change.

It has been such a busy first year for the whole group with some remarkable achievements happening across all our sites, of which the governors are incredibly proud.

Etc. offers high quality education is housed in attractive, modern and well-equipped buildings in Stockton, Thornaby, Billingham and Redcar.

The Teesdale campus in Thornaby, close to Stockton Centre, and the Redcar & Cleveland College campus, both focus on general and vocational further and higher education, tailored to local communities.

Academic courses are offered at Bede Sixth Form in Billingham and the college’s Sports Centre is situated close to this Sixth Form building.

NETA Training Group provides a range of industrial training, as well as apprenticeships and some specialist 16 to 18 provision. The Skills Academy, also in Billingham, offers introductory level courses for 14-18 year olds with a focus on practical learning. The College also delivers some provision off-campus in partnership with employers, and voluntary and community organisations.

We are confident that students across all our campuses are receiving very high quality education, training and support to prepare them for exciting futures in higher education and employment.

I hope that the information on the website will be of interest to you.

Should you have any queries about the governance arrangements, or if you are interested in becoming a governor or involved with the college, please contact the Clerk to the Corporation (sarah.thompson@stockton.ac.uk or 01642 865415) who will be pleased to provide more information.
