Profile:
Mahomed is a Chartered Engineer and a Fellow of the Institute of Mechanical Engineers (U.K.) having graduated with an honours degree in mechanical engineering from University College Dublin. He is a globally experienced senior business executive with strong business acumen gained internationally across a wide range of functions in the chemical industry over 40 years.
Prior to his retirement in April 2025, he was COO and Executive Vice President for Business Operations / Strategy at Venator Materials. He has held various business leadership roles with global business responsibilities at ICI / Huntsman / Venator : profitability, commercial, manufacturing, engineering, sales and marketing, business development, R&D, supply chain, project management, business strategy, M&A, divestment and JV’s. He has served on various JV Boards as director and chairman. As for the future, Mahomed is looking to build a portfolio of NED roles, advising businesses with a focus on start-ups and giving something back to the community especially promoting education.
Mahomed has been living in the North East of England for the past 30 years with his wife and two children. He has a passion for developing, mentoring and coaching people. He is a firm believer that education is the cornerstone of society and education creates equal opportunities for all for a more prosperous future. He is a strong advocate of providing opportunities for young people from diverse backgrounds to develop relevant skills that will encourage them to stay and work in the region.
Mahomed was attracted by the aim of Etc. of creating greater opportunities for all students, equipping people with skills to help them into employment, raise aspirations and meet the economic needs of the region.
